In this auction you are bidding on a very 'very' rare French Gold Gilt and Spelter Clock with key. This clock has been inspected and is complete, there is a suspension spring that will need to be replaced as part of the pendulum system, and everything else needed is present to include the weighted pendulum. The figure is a charming French boy with his sythe and wine cup, pleased with the season's grape harvest. This is anything but a common clock, you will find very few if any available for purchase, or on display in galleries, and clock collections.
The metalwork in this piece is amazingly intricate and detail, I admire time movements as much as I do the art work involved in building these sort of clocks, the pendulum action is hidden in the back of the clock outside the view of the public, but the wonderful sound that this clock will make as the movement works back and forth will be like music to your ears.
