If you have been collecting watches for a while, I think you’re going to appreciate the following sophisticated antique timepiece - regulator which was made by DOXA Company and is dated to ca 1910’s. This is a good watch brightly reflecting all canons of classical Swiss watch school and remaining to this day the quintessence of the horological precision instrument.
This unique timepiece features an ORIGINAL porcelain enamel dial that was professionally restored and now is in excellent condition. The three measured units of time, seconds, minutes and hours, are spatially separated from one another. The purpose is to be able to tell the precise time at a glance without the hands covering each other. The hour display and the small seconds display have their separate place on the dial. Only the “large” minutes hand describes its circle from the centre. The original dial is signed “DOXA”– REGULATEUR.
This model of timepiece has four-piece, double hinged case. The existence of an inner dust cover lid is a good sign of a quality watch. It was used to protect the mechanism from dust and debris and to provide an extra layer of protection from shock or moisture. The inside of the outer case lid is stamped DOXA – METAL ARGENTAN - DEPOSE and case reference number #1502055. On the inner lid there are medals and the signature about the prestigious exhibitions where DOXA won.
This is a watch with the owner’s name engraved on it.
This unique watch is mechanical and completely original. The original movement is branded too. The signed original movement with genuine jewels is in an excellent status which was very well saved, considering age of this watch.

In overall good condition. Antique and vintage items by their very nature show normal wear to finish and miscellaneous scratches, nicks, and dings due to age and use. As we define 'good condition' relative to the stated age of the piece, we would expect to see 'character marks' consistent with that age and could include nicks or dings to a wooden, metal, enamel, or chalkware object, wear to a painted surface, speckling on a mirror, crazing, wear to gilding, or manufacturing glaze skips in ceramic finish, wear to a label, and some original decorative trim may be missing. If ceramic/porcelain restoration has been done, it is of museum-quality so that it is hardly discernible and would be specifically mentioned in the listing. 'Good condition' could include very small fleabite chips or very small hairline cracks in any glass, ceramic, or marble item, but these would be specifically mentioned in the listing.

REGULATOR REGULATEUR / PENDULUM CLOCK

A Regulator, also Regulateur, is usually a large wall clock with a long case enclosing the dial above a long pendulum, and is noted for its time-keeping accuracy. Very elaborately carved regulator clocks are often called the Vienna Style.

Pendulum clocks use a pendulum, a swinging weight, as the timekeeping element. The pendulum clock was invented and patented by Dutch scientist Christiaan Huygens in 1656, inspired by Galileo’s investigation of pendulums (Galileo had the idea for a pendulum clock in 1637, but was not able to effectively build one). The use of the pendulum increased the accuracy of clocks enormously, from about 15 minutes per day to 15 seconds per day. Pendulum clocks remained the world standard for accurate timekeeping for 270 years until the invention of the quartz clock in 1927.

 I have some fabulous new items for you this week - lots from the flea market, some from the estate sale in Utica, and, I’m going to an auction too - so wish me luck - you don’t want to miss!

You know I know this is for a large old clock (cuckoo in style, I'm guessing) but I just love the shape and weight, and the gorgeous pine cone style all on its own - I could see you displaying it in so many ways.  This is a heavy one, too - marked on the side of the cast iron pine cone, "1500 ET," that's about 3 1/2 lbs - pretty hefty for only being 8" long by 1 5/8" at its widest.  It is in excellent solid and study condition.  You can see just a faint covering of surface rust in some spots, and it could use a good cleaning.  It's a functional antique that is looking for its form!Please ask if you have any questions, or feel free to inform me if you have any information about one of my listings.  As with any of my items, if you ever need extra pictures, let me know, just make sure that you give me an email address to send them to.  Pick up is welcome on all of my items.  I’m happy to combine shipments for you, but I do ask that there be no more than 7 days from the purchase of the first  item - I will invoice after 7 days, as I cannot hold the items longer than that.Also, many of my items come from local rural estate sales and auctions.  They are coming right from the barn or attic to you!  I do not take the time to clean and polish before I sell - they are in the condition found, as you see in my photos - and I do my best to photo and describe thoroughly.Please do not let Ebay’s policy of requiring electronic payments keep you from bidding.  Email me if this is not possible for you and we can discuss alternatives.   Payment is due within 7 business days after close of auction, after that, the sale will be void, and I will relist the item. I have had some trouble with the Ebay shipping calculator giving people bombastic shipping rates (especially after purchase with the Ebay “Pay Now“ invoice on Parcel Post rates).  I charge shipping cost, so if you think it’s too high, email me so that I can check it out, before you pay me.  That being said, we pack very well, so that will add to the weight.I ship within two business days of receipt of your payment, or I will notify you otherwise.With postage rates going up and up, I am shipping more items Parcel Post.  Please realize that this can mean a 2-3 week delivery, sometimes longer.  As a matter of fact, this year, I’m finding the “longer” more the norm.  Parcel Post travels by land or rail and, at least in this area, packages do not leave the regional post office until they fill up a bin going in the same direction (so there’s no estimated exact number of days like you have with Priority Mail - the Post Office says 5-7 days, but that‘s not what I’m finding).  I mail right away so it can get to you as soon as possible.With  the exception of the most heavy and/or large items, I will always give both Priority Mail and Parcel Post as shipping options, with Priority being first for my lighter items.  Be sure you check out both rates . ANTIQUE ZENITH GERMAN MILITARY WATCH SWISS GRAND PRIX CLOCK ORIGINAL MOVEMENT

 The subject of this review is an interesting collectible specimen of the men’s timepiece ZENITH from the WWII period, which was made by one of the oldest and prestigious watch manufacturing companies in the Swiss industry. This unique military watch was used in military German Army.
This timepiece with a manual wind features a new professionally updated black dial that was made in military style. The new dial features a 60 minute checkered outer track border, easily readable Arabic figures of the simple shape in the military style, Breguet-style hands with luminescent eyes and an index register for the seconds. The dial is signed ‘ZENITH’.
This watch has a four-piece, double hinged case that was made especially for the military watch to protect the mechanism from dust and debris and to provide an extra layer of protection from shock or moisture. The existence of an inner dust cover lid is a good sign of a quality watch. The inside of the outer case lid is stamped logo of ZENITH, inscription ‘METAL BLANC – GARANTI’ and case reference number #4921291 - 2797.
Watches of this model are widely known; they have won the Grand Prix at the Paris watch exhibition in 1900. On the inner lid there is a corresponding inscription.
This mechanical watch has signed original movement that was very well saved and is in a good status. The serial number of the movement is #1.371.017.
This watch was converted to wristwatch. This was quite common at the beginning of XX century, as it became “fashionable” and comfortable for men to wear wristwatches.

In spite of the fact that watch has passed the whole war, it is in excellent working condition. It well holds time, considering age of this watch. You can see that the owner has valued it very much and cared. Notice! Buying this watch, you buy not just a watch, and a history particle. Who knows, perhaps this watch was with the German pilot near Moscow in 1941, or with the tank-officer under Stalingrad in 1942. And it is possible the staff officer had this watch in Berlin in 1945.

Original bronze patina on the column caps and fancy Seth Thomas feet

Unusual and seldom seen Seth Thomas model and it has been well cared for and it shows in the adamantine as the green sandstone marbleized trim looks fantastic on this clock

This clock also has the sandstone and green marbleized trim that highlights the black adamantine extremely well. This clock also has the green marbleized trim on the top of the clock also

Also this clock retains its original back door. The movement retains the Seth Thomas Made in America and the movement model # 4 1/2. This movement has been ultrasonically cleaned and oiled. This movement is a spring wound eight day time & strike movement that announces the half hour on a brass cup bell and proceeds to count the hour on a good sounding cathedral gong. The movement is in very good operating condition it is keeping good time and striking correctly.

This clock measures 16 1/2 inches in length by 11 inches in height

This clock retains its original cast iron pendulum and the correct winding key for the clock

This clock has seen very good care over its lifetime there is no missing trim or broken pieces on the clock there is the normal wear you would expect after 110 years.
